ABOUT THE POSITION
Are you passionate about making a real impact?
TLEA is welcoming applications for a full-time Senior Engineer Mechanical to join our Kwinana team on a maximum term contract, initially until September 2027.
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering activities across debottlenecking and brownfield modification projects (PMRs and/or SCPs) within TLK’s lithium refinery. This role provides end-to-end technical input across the project lifecycle - from concept development and design through to construction support - ensuring all mechanical solutions are safe, fit-for-purpose, and aligned with plant operability requirements.
Success in this position requires strong coordination with internal stakeholders, consultants, and operations teams to ensure engineering deliverables are efficient, compliant, and constructible and that project outcomes support reliable, sustainable plant performance.
In addition to demonstrating our core values of distinction, pragmatism, honesty, tenacity and innovation, this role will suit an individual with a strong background in, and working knowledge of, brownfield environments and operational settings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead mechanical design and technical assessments for assigned debottlenecking PMR projects, covering piping systems, pressure equipment, rotating machinery, and mechanical packages.
- Review, validate and approve mechanical engineering deliverables including datasheets, equipment specifications, layout drawings, tie-in details, and calculations.
- Ensure all mechanical designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, TLK engineering practices, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with multi-discipline engineering teams - process, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation - to ensure integrated design outcomes.
- Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications, evaluating vendor submissions and reviewing vendor documentation for compliance and suitability.
- Participate in HAZOPs, constructability reviews and risk assessments to ensure mechanical designs are safe, practical and executable in a brownfields environment.
- Provide mechanical engineering support during construction, commissioning, and handover to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Engage proactively with operations and maintenance teams to ensure mechanical solutions are maintainable, operable and aligned with site strategy and long-term plant performance.

- Proven experience in pressure equipment, piping systems, rotating equipment, and layout design.
- Experience reviewing 3D models, mechanical drawings, and design deliverables.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Safety-focused mindset with an ability to balance technical integrity and practical constructability.
