ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking an experienced and talented Technician Laboratory to join our team on a permanent full-time basis, at our laboratory in Kwinana.

The successful applicant will report to the Laboratory Supervisor and will be responsible for producing high quality analytical data for the Kwinana Lithium Hydroxide Production Plant, in a safe, efficient and timely manner. 

This position is an even-time roster involving 12-hour days and nights working a combination of five-on or four-on and five-off or four-off.

In addition to possessing our core values of distinction, pragmatism, honesty, tenacity and innovation, this position will suit a well-rounded laboratory professional with functional and technical knowledge, who can perform the job at a high level of accomplishment.  

Our on-site laboratory team performs a wide range of analytical methods using instrumentation such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, WD-XRF, TGA, Ion Chromatography, CS Analyser, Auto-titrator, and Laser Particle Sizer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow and support safe work practices to help maintain a safe working environment.
  • Comply with all relevant standards in the Laboratory Quality Manual and Company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Register samples, enter data, review results and generate reports.
  • Prepare samples for analysis using laboratory equipment including Hamilton dilutors, pulverisers, centrifuges, and pressure filtration units.
  • Perform routine and non-routine testing of process samples including wet chemistry, titrations, and instrumental analysis.
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform basic maintenance on laboratory analytical instruments and equipment. 
  • Effectively plan, coordinate, and prioritise laboratory tasks to ensure turnaround time targets are achieved. 
  • Support internal audits, method validations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Actively participate in all Laboratory activities including shift change, toolbox and safety meetings, audits and ongoing professional development and training.

WHAT YOU CAN BRING

  • Experience as a laboratory technician in a commercial, mining or production laboratory.
  • Completion of a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or higher in a similar or related discipline.
  • Solid understanding of QA/QC principles, with experience working under ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 standards.
  • Proven understanding of chemical handling requirements and the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including days and nights.
  • Strong attention to detail, clear written communication, and a team-oriented approach.
  • Hands on experience with laboratory equipment and software systems such as WD-XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, Laser Particle Sizer, Auto-titrator and LIMS will be highly regarded.

LOCATION

TLEA proudly acknowledges and the Whadjuk and Gnaala Karla Boodja people of the Noongar Nation, as the traditional custodians of the Kwinana area, where we operate our plant.

Kwinana is 38 km from the Perth central business district, 20 km from City of Fremantle and just 7km from Rockingham.
