ABOUT THE POSITION
Our business seeks an experienced and talented Senior Specialist Inventory to join our team permanently at our Kwinana Refinery.
They are a subject matter expert providing well-rehearsed inventory management support, are meticulous and commercial in their thinking, specialise in SAP, warehouse management/inventory control systems, and are knowledgeable in inventory management principles and procedures.
They possess the ability to extract and analyse complex data to formulate intelligent commercial decisions and develop and apply appropriate inventory policies, settings, and guidelines.
To be successful in this role requires that they will:
- Proactively develop and implement an inventory framework and enhance supply chain processes.
- Oversee all reagents, materials, and consumables to ensure systematic compliance. Provide regular management reporting on inventory efficiency, variances, slow and obsolete exposure, financial provision, dangerous goods, and liaise with the business to monitor, manage, and buy ongoing consumption

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely and effectively with a genuine focus on safety and continuous improvement.
- Lead financial audits and inspections, ensure all inventory is safeguarded, secure, and correct aligning with inventory and finance policies and procedures.
- Manage change to SAP inventory management data affected by SAP design changes, inventory requests, including modifications and creation of both new and existing MRP settings to suit demand, maintenance plans, shutdowns, and all other activities.
- Help design, participate, and implement other SAP suites including the imminent upgrade, and warehouse management module.
- Facilitate training and coaching of key users to ensure compliance to standards and understanding of Inventory data usage.
- Monitor compliance of SAP inventory data metrics and provide governance support.
Create inventory data modelling and reports that can be used for easy retrieval and analysis for informed decision making. - Supply skillful SAP instruction and guidance to the warehouse and Logistics Team, helping resolve inventory concerns, technical issues, or related problems.
- Report on all consumable and material inventory counts, adjustments, variances, finished product, by-product, reagents and report findings and any variance on a routine basis.
- Monitor supplier performance and analyses discrepancies, and in consultation with procurement implement plans to improve vendor performance.
- Establish trusted relationships with suppliers to facilitate inventory returns, rationalisation or opportunities for improved performance, service, or cost.
- Consider and propose strategies to reduce costs and improve supply chain logistics.
Work with maintenance to identify and co-ordinate preventative schedules on specialist equipment in long term storage. - Work with maintenance to identify the preservation of all relevant spares, ensuring these materials are serviceable as and when needed.
- Work with the Part Master Data and Senior Analyst of Spares personnel to implement effective inventory settings and resolve issues and concerns.
- Understand inventory holding costs vs production loss and use commercial acumen in all inventory decision making process.
- Participate in all Warehouse, Logistics and SAP development project work and co-ordinate the roll out of improved technologies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- 3 + years experience in Inventory Management.
- Considerable experience with SAP4/HANA
- Experience optimising inventory, forecasting and driving improvements across all warehousing, logistics and inventory processes and practices.
- Ability to engage and communicate clearly with the team and liaise with all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent computer skills, specialising in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and SAP.
- Tertiary qualification in finance, business or supply chain (advantageous).
- Experience in an industrial, refinery, manuafatcuring, logistics or mining environment preferred
